Fire Rated Windows & Glass

When fire safety is written into the building code, the glass matters as much as the wall around it. Fire-rated glazing is engineered to hold back flames and smoke long enough for people to get out and for first responders to get in, all while looking and performing like ordinary clear glass.

Today’s fire-rated glass has come a long way from the wired glass of the past. Modern glass ceramic is clear and wire-free, with high light transmission that keeps interiors bright and sightlines open. It stands up to thermal shock and carries an impact safety rating, so it guards against accidental breakage and injury on both sides of the glass.

Fire-rated glass fits a wide range of openings:

  • Doors and door vision lites
  • Sidelites and transoms
  • Borrowed lites and interior partitions
  • Stairwells, corridors, and exit routes
  • Exterior windows and curtain wall (insulated options)

Fire-rated windows and glass installations throughout Vancouver and Port Coquitlam

The fire-rated glazing we install is tested and listed to UL, ULC, and NFPA standards, with hose-stream and positive-pressure testing behind every rating. Ratings run from 20 minutes to 3 hours, so the glass can be matched to your occupancy and local code.

For exterior openings, insulated fire-rated units add energy efficiency and sound control without sacrificing the fire rating. And if your project calls for a higher level of protection, such as a barrier to radiant heat, we can specify the right product for the application.

As with everything we do, Condoor handles both supply and installation. We help you select the right fire-rated glazing for your code requirements and budget, then fit it into properly rated framing so the whole assembly performs exactly as tested.
